We are based on the outskirts of the township of Rakaia in mid Canterbury on southern banks of the Rakaia River. Although many of our riders live in the near area, a number also travel from as far away as Ashburton, Methven, Leeston and nearer to Christchurch.
We pride ourselves on being a friendly and welcoming club and cater for all ages of riders from young lead-reiners through to adult riders. Similarly we will assist and support those at all levels of riding from beginner through to the more competitively minded.
Our riders are encouraged to experience various features of Pony Club life, e.g. Fun Treks, Games Teams, Springston Trophy, Horse Trials, South Island Showjumping and Dressage Teams. Many of our members also compete individually in all levels of competition from show-ring, dressage show jumping, show hunter and eventing to endurance!
Our rallies are usually held on the second Sunday of each month (although occasionally this might change) and we do put a huge emphasis on the fun side of riding but along with that offer the opportunity of furthering Certificate work.
We are always happy to have new members join us and would welcome any new coaches. We invite you to come and visit at the next Rally and join us for a shared lunch.
We are very proud of our Pony Club grounds and facilities which include an all-weather arena, showjumping & derby course and our wonderful Cross Country Course situated next to the Rakaia River, this now being the only course in Mid-Canterbury.
